Generally the treatment involves mild intermittant axial traction, NO CERVICAL COLLAR (it causes you to lose muscle tone), NO MUSCLE RELAXANTS, NO VIBRATORY OR SOUND THERAPY, good hydration and anti-inflamatories under the supervision of a physician. The intermittant daily axial traction is the hallmark of good treatment.
Someone ordered the MRI. If they have not been helpful in this matter, seek another physician.
Usually docs will go the moderate treatment route for that sort of thing, including physical therapy, medicines, that sort of thing. Then if that doesn't work, a doc CAN consider surgery. In the meantime, I hope you are under the care of a neurologist, he can help you.
