cervical spinal stenosis and neuropathy

Hi,
Back in December 2009 my middle finger on my left hand started to hurt, then about a week later it went numb and so did my ring and pinky finger on the same hand.  It is constantly numb and often has pain too.  I went to my primary doctor who tried a few things and told me it was stress.  Other things that were happening was bad fatigue, forgetfull ness, tremors, lack of cordination. I asked her to test me for MS.  the MRI came back negitive.  Blood test came back fine, no limes, no lupus, no RA.  Went to go see a Neurologist.  She does not think she can help me and went me to see a rhuetologist.  But wanted to run 2 more MRI's to rule out MS all together.  MRI came back with cervical Spinal Stenosis with bulging disc on c5 - c6.  I am waiting to get into a neurosergeon to see what I am going to do.  I just want the feeling back in my hand, but it would also explain the 15 years of neck pain I have been having.  Has anyone had this?  Did you have surgery?  How was recovery?  Did the pain or numbness go away?

Thanks for any information you can give me.
