Thanks for sharing everything you know about this case. I also have a mild dextroscoliosis of the thoracic spine. i felt sad when i knew about it. however, through browsing the net, i learned few tips on how to prevent it from getting worse and somehow ease the backpains caused by it. Can you please affirm the effectiveness of these tips I got form some websites:

1. Is it true that when sleeping, a person who has scoliosis should put a pillow under his/her knees and aside from the head, part of the shoulders should also be placed on the pillow for support. But if the person prefers sleeping on his/her side, knees should be bended?

2. Is it true that when you reach the age of 20 your bones are already grown/ developed that's why your scolio won't get any better or worse anymore?

3. Should people with DEXTROscoliosis always lean on their right side to counteract the bending of the spine?

4. Should I also start drinking milk regularly to prevent worsening my dextroscoliosis?

5. I have retroverted uterus and dextroscoliosis, is it true that i'll have a hard time during or becoming pregnant?

6. AND is it alright not to seek medical support or treatment for my mild dextroscoliosis since my mon said she knew many people who had the same case but did not ever consult doctors and lived their lives normally?

I hope you could tell me more about these tips I got from different sources. I'm sure your expertise would really help people like me.Thank you very much!

hi, I can relate so much with mel57. the same exact thing happen to me.. i mean on how i found out i have a dextroscoliosis - 11 degrees.
i am still undergoing theraphy though, but im just confuse, is it true that if you are at the age of 22 and up, your scolio wont be corrected nor get worst? My doctor said yes but the physical therapist said otherwise and I dont know which one to believe.

Hi Dear,
Dextroscoliosis is a scoliosis with the convexity on the right side.
Idiopathic scoliosis is the most common type of spinal deformity confronting orthopedic surgeons. Scoliosis represents a disturbance of an otherwise well-organized 25-member intercalated series of spinal segments. It is, at times, grossly oversimplified as mere lateral deviation of the spine, when in reality, it is a complex 3-dimensional deformity
scoliosis is commonly defined as greater than 10° of lateral deviation of the spine from its central axis.
The precise cause of idiopathic scoliosis remains unknown.
The vast majority of patients initially present due to perceived deformity. This may be patient or family perception of asymmetry about the shoulders, waist, or rib cage
Nonoperative management consists of either mere observation or orthosis use (like Milwaukee brace)
Observation is watchful waiting with appropriate intermittent radiographs to check for the presence or absence of curve progression.
An orthopedic consultation is warranted
Take care.
