Hi, I've had this scence i had back surgery, My nurosurgen said that it is the nerves over fireing, He said it normal with persons with nerve damage.
Now with that said! he does'nt have to put up with it. ask your doctor about it, if you have nerve damage, you need to get it taken care of.
the surgical nurse told me to drink lots and lots of water. it seems to help. at least it happens less often.
hope this helps!
I hope you haven't been taking Cipro for two years! If so, talk to your doctor, that's way too long. But hopefully I just misunderstood you. In any case, I do not think it was the antibacterial medicine that is doing this to you. It can cause nervousness, like caffeine does to people if they drink too much, and rarely a seizure, but neither of those are like what you describe.
I know of three things that can cause these "electric jolts": 1. If you are taking an antidepressant SSRI, and if you don't happen to get quite enough of your dose of medicine regularly, it's a withdrawl type sign. Just talk to the doc who prescribes it and ask if you can increase it. 2. A couple neurological problems can cause this jolt, and that's Restless Legs Syndrome or possibly a kink in a nerve in your spine. 3. Not getting enough deep REM sleep.
I hope this helps you begin to figure out how come you are getting these electric jolts. Talk to a neuro if the three items I mentioned to not match up to you. And again, if you've been on Cipro for two years, I would talk to the doc who prescribes it and tell him about your electric jolts; I cannot imagine a scenario where you'd be on an antibiotic for that long. But I don't know everything.
