I have numerous questions about fasiculations.  My husband is experiencing and also has low back pain, a dianosis of spondylosis of C5 and muscle weakness, fatigue and atrophy.  I have tried several times to post a question...but the forum has been full and would not accept my posting...Does anyone have any further information regarding other possibilites...I know this is not the way to post...but did not know how to get on otherwise.

Thanks for your response.  I would like to ask more in depth questions.  How can I e-mail you so it is not available to any one on the forum to read?

Thank You

Dear Mary Clewly:

There are several diseases in the mixed sensory and motor polyneuropathies that can cause sensory changes and muscle fasiculations.  Several infectious diseases can give these symptoms like Lyme disease. These are usually diagnosed by family history, history of the patient and physical examination.  An EMG often is very helpful in the diagnosis.

If the history and examination (including EMG) are normal, then likely the symptoms are due to other causes.
