I guess I did not put the right words in my question to the DX. Maybe someone out there can answer my question. I am nervous about ALS, and I have symptoms that could or could not be the beginning. 1st, I developed muscle twitches about a month ago in my thigh, then pretty much all over. They have pretty much stopped, except for when I am relaxed. I feel them from time to time in my calfs, and my arms. My eyelids have also began to twitch. I have read that the ALS twitching is usually followed by or a result of muscle weakness. I have no muscle weakness. My hands and feet are fine, as is my swallowing. I have been under a lot of stress this past year, but for the first 36 years of my life, I never had this type of reaction to stress. I feel great physically...but the twitching does play on my mind. Anyone out there that can give me their opinion on what I am going through, would be greatly appreciated.

You ask if my muscles are a problem.  Yes.  I have been told that I have fibromyalgia.  I have had numbness, tingling, tenderspots and pain, dizziness, tight neck, joint pains, gastrointestinal problems, and I can't really remember anything else right now.  All of these things did give me a need to find God and I thank Him for all He has done for me and others.  I believe that fibro and many of the autoimmune problems are caused by toxins like from fungi, bacteria and viral.  Also environmental.

In the book of Job 3:25, Job says "For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me and what I dreaded has happened to me.  I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, for trouble comes."  If you read the book of Job, you will learn what it is to suffer and then to be restored.  For those of us suffering adversity, this book hits home!!!  In Mark 5:36, Jesus says, "Do not be afraid; only believe."  Many places we are told not to worry and to rejoice.  This is hard but it is necessary.  Worry kills us.  Our creator tells us not to worry.  It is a tool of satan.  It shows we doubt.  I don't mean to preach at anyone but if the very words of God helped me, then they will help others.  I have fretted and worried about so many things and I will be tempted to do so again and I probably will worry, but may God in heaven remind me to trust Him again.  I wish this for you also.

could/would be weakness in every situation.(that is what i think)

I had pain in every situation,oke..when i was bussy it was less

Hello Finfan,

A lot of things are comming out of the bleu and i think
nobody can tell you exactly what is wrong, but i know that
a lot of things can happen with stress, especially the  fasciculations
in the eyelids, calfs, thumb, and also the pins and needle feelings in hands
and feet.
I have fasicuculations over 15 months now (  there are less now) and

Alphie,

Thanks for your reply.  I am under a lot of stress, and when I feel something, I really fixate on it, and that probably does not help.  I was worried that I may have ALS, but aside from the muscles twitching or popping, I have nothing else. The light feelings of pins and needles stayed for about a day, and really has not come back.  My speech is fine, my strength is good, I have no problems eating..etc.  The funny thing is that when I am busy or doing something, and my mind is off of it, I feel nothing, but once I am done being occupied, I sit and wait to feel something.  When I do, the fixation starts again.  I have never been this way before, but my cousin dies of ALS at 36.  I know that should not play a part on my health, but I keep on thinking it is something.  He was in the Navy, on a Nuclear sub, and he was the 2nd person to develop ALS in his squad.

It is just that I have never had these feelings before, and I have been under stress before, without having these issues...maybe it is age, or maybe I am just going crazy.......

I couldn't agree more.  The more I focus on the numbness and tingling or electric vibrating feeling or twitches, the more I feel them.  In fact, there are times when I am busy that I really don't even notice it.  It's worse when I lay down to sleep but I read my Bible, and pray to God for relief and I give him my concern.  That helps me sleep better so my muscles can heal.  How is you doctor treating your infection in your nerve.  I am interested in that.

I am hoping someone can give me an idea on what may be going on with me.  There never seems to be an opening to post a question to a docter.  My problem started about a month ago where my muslces in my one thight started to "pop", it was like a feeling of bubbles.  That stopped after a day or so, and now I occassionaly get that feeling in my calfs, and my arms, once in awhile, also when I lay down, i get the feeling in a small area on my back, and it is always the same area. From time to time my forehead and eyelids twitch.  I feel perfectly healthy, and feel no weaknesses or feel tired.  I am just trying to understand what this could be and why it just started to happen out of the blue.  I am a 37 year old male.  I also will get this pins and needle feeling off and on all over my body from time to time.  Each incident is limited to a small area, like on my arms, the bottom of my foot, my back.  It is not really painful, and it is actually light feeling of pins and needles.  What does this sound like?

I have been having muscle twitchings all over my body, including the head and throat, that started with twitchings on my left forearm (just below the elbow joint) about three weeks ago. I started feeling dizzy and tired with slight tingling in the extremities, stiffness in hands and neck, about a few months back and my doctor sent me to a specialist after all the blood tests came back normal. In the meantime, I had developed several symtoms viz. intermittent internal tremor of the body, persistent dizziness, head tremors (maybe twithing of the brain muscle), joint pain, etc. The specialist in turn referred me to a Neuro who did a nerve conduction test on my right leg and arm and diagosed me as having "Panic Attacks." Although I did not feel right about his diagnosis, I was happy that it was something so simple. However, about a week after the diagnosis, my symptoms became worse, especially the internal tremors, dizziness and the head tremor. I having waking up feeling very stiff every morning for a while too. The most worrisome symptoms are the muscle facsciculations and it is even worse now that since this afternoon, I feel that my throat is swollen and it feels uncomfortable to swallow. When I apply pressure on the area, it is little sensitive. Does anyone think this is symptomatic of ALS???I am terrified!

Muscle fasciculations can be seen in disease states, the most notable being ALS. However, they can also be apart of benign fasciculation syndrome, excessive muscle use, and some electrolyte abnormalities. They may be secondary to your running routine. However, if you are concerned about other possibilities the you should have a consultation with a neurologist. Good luck.
