foot movement

My daughter says it feels like something moving slowly in her feet...like water sloshing slowly or when your feet go into mud in a pond/lake...but all on the inside of her feet.  It has traveled up her feet into her lower legs now.  She also feels like someone is sticking a pole I her waist area pushing down into her legs.  ?

Thank you for your insight.  We have found out that our daughter has scarring in the left kidney and we had a renal scan with DMSA yesterday.  Left kidney is significantly smaller than the right.  We see a pediatric urologist on April 1 and have been referred to a pediatric muscular neurologist in St Louis on April 16th.  All blood work has came back fine as did MRI.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Your daughter could be suffering from paresthesia (abnormal sensations), which are generally due to peripheral neuropathies or vascular pathologies. Hence peripheral vascular pathologies like deep vein thrombosis have to be ruled out either by angiograms or by dopplar studies. There are several causes for peripheral neuropathies including diabetes, hypothyroidism, chronic involvement of liver or kidney, chronic alcohol use etc. Hypoparathyroidism too should be looked into apart from hypothyroidism. Low back strain, spondylotic changes in lumbo-sacral vertebrae, bone disease or bad posture should be looked into. Nerve infections as in lyme’s disease too should be investigated. Nerve conduction studies should be done along with blood tests for above mentioned disorders. Vitamin B12 deficiency too should be looked into. Multiple sclerosis is another possibility but less likely in your daughter’s case.  Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
