heip regarding sucide attemp by hanging

Hi  I   require  a  urgent help

my  brother  aged  35 has  attempted  sucide  by hanging on  07/12/10  at  3.30 pm and  was  admitted in nearby hospital by  4.30  ,  was  brought unconsious , pulse  was  about  70  in  day 1 and  right  now  pulse  is  at  122  and  the  artificail  respiration  has been  removed  jus  now  and  he is  breathing on his  own  rite  now ,  reflex   , eye  movements  are  nil as  of  now  , and  he  is  not  responding   for anything ,  request  your  advice  on thie  pls  help

he  was  hanging  for   about   30 - 45  mins    but  not  sure  ,  saying this  because  he  was on  a  telephone  call  till 2.45  and  we  noticed his  hanging  at  3.30   and  from yesterday  his own  breathing is  getting  reduced  as doctor  says  , but pulse  remains  same  as  127  
and BP getting  reduced  to  85/45  and  ct  scan  reveals  mild fluid collection in brain  and some  damage  areas  ,  black patches in CT  scan few  images

Pls  advice  my  mobile  no 9500011902  if possible

positive  symptoms  noticed  by us

urine  and  motion are  regular

body temperature is  constant

we  could  see some  gossepimples  sometimes all over his  hands

There is ample literature on this situation, which is called "near strangulation". Generally there is some form of permanent brain damage, however there may be a great deal of recovery. Only time will tell. You can google search this topic.  There is no special therapy, except that for the conventional stroke patient.

Hi there. Any ideas for how long was your brother up on the noose? This will tell the duration of cerebral hypoxemia that has perhaps caused irreversible damage to certain regions in brain. His tachycardia could be due to vasomotor paralysis due to dmage to centres in the brain stem. The prognosis is guarded and watch over the organ systems functioning is important. Talk to the treating neurologist and intensivist about your concerns. Take care.
