hydrochepalus

hi my son was diagnosed with hydrocephalus when he was 5 weeks old and he is now 8 months old he has not got a shunt he has had a third vetricalostomy and my question is just recently he has stopped breathing when he is asleep and will let out a loud gasp and goes ridged for a second i am not sure how often this happens during the night as it does not wake him up, and i was just wondering if this could be related to the hydrocephalus or somthing different or if it is nothing to worry about as i find it hard to talk to his dr's i dont want them to think i am being parnoid! thankyou, kayliegh

please make an appt. with a pediatric neurologist as soon as you can.  i don't know if a sleep study can be done on a child so young, but i would certainly look into it!!!  do they know what caused the hydrocephalus? i would push for answers as to why your baby stops breathing.  hard!!!

my relative died depending on neurosurgeons and neurologists telling him his headhache was nothing serious until he had died....do not depend completely on a doctor or 2 when it comes to something critical affecting your child, have few different consultants from different parts see him and inform you of his wellbeing

hello you find any consultant specialists here....and as for dr's thinking your paranoya what do you care what the doctors think? A Mother worried for her child may God Bless you for that....as a father im going to be as paranoya as i can over my children because i love them....if the doctors your seeing are not supportive or helpful find another consultant in neurosurgery and neurology to make sure your child is fine...
