microangiopathic ischemic changes

I suffered a Pontine CVA several years ago but now am experiencing increased visual balance and memory difficulties a recent MRI report  showed scattered areas of increased [email protected]/FLAIR signal abnormality, although nonspecific, likely representing sequela of chronic microangioangiopathic ischemic changes. Would this possibly be a cause of the increasing difficultied and what can be done for this?
