myoclonic epilepsy

sir my son aged 01 yr is suffering with myoclonic epilepsy. his Mri brain reveals reduction of white matter. he is unable to sit stand talk or holding any thing . we are giving him sodium valporate since last 09 month now it is stopped we are also giving him methylcobalamine nitrazepam 7.5 mg once a day , lamtac 10 mg twice tab canitine 250 mg thrice a day. when he was 02 month he was giving jerk to his head forward 20-25 times thrice aday. now also he is doing same but reduced 10-15 ttimes thrice aday.he is always found with fever 100 to 102 deg c twice a week. frm last few days he is laughing in his sleep as adult. pl advice me that my son can walk and talk  we are much worried. thoug we are douing physiotherapy most of the time in a day . we are unable to bear the pain we have . requst to advice clearly with regards rajcharu

Hi Raj,
You said your child did not cry immediately after birth, so there would have been some hypoxia related injury to brain.
I think he needs special intervention. He needs extensive support from all medical specialties like orthopedics, neurology, and also physiotherapy.
He needs a multi-disciplinary approach to come close to normal life.
I feel sorry that you have to go through all this.

sir replying ur doubts .my son did not cry 10-20 sec after birth. his seizures diagnosed myclonic. till date most of the time he is sleeping he can't sit talk or hold any thing except his hands which he tries to put in hi mouth . every thing is delayed in huim he has just cutting his two teeth. eeg done at referal research army hospital new delhi . will he may be able to sit walk or study pl suggest and oblige me

Hi,
I can understand what you and your family might be going through.
Before commenting on your child's MRI report I would like to know about his birth and subsequent events.
When did he first start having these jerks? What was his consciousness? Was it a seizure? Whether an EEG was being done or not?
Decrease in white matter of brain suggests that he might have difficulty in coordinating his movements.
How is his development? Is it delayed?
