You can try taking Magnesium.  Start with 400 mg an hour before bedtime with our without food but with a full glass of water.  Use the pillow for your legs as I posted above, and give it a good week or more to see if this helps.  If you are not allergic to latex/rubber, you may also want to eat a banana every day as well.  Should you start to experience any upset stomach, stop either the banana or Magnesium to see which is causing the symptoms (usually you will know because it will  happen shortly after taking either one IF it is going to happen).  If you develop diarrhea, cut the Magnesium pill in half.  Let us know if you have any other questions.

nzkiwilife is correct about the Magnesium.  Do you take any medication for reflux/GERD?  They, along with other medications can cause you to deplete your magnesium.

When you take Magnesium, it is best to take the tablet one hour before bedtime.  Too much of this can cause diarrhea.

Often time with a Mag. deficiency people experience cramping in their legs (this is different cramping from the calves that cardiac patients experience).  There is also a disease called Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). Here is a link to learn more about RLS:  http://www.webmd.com/brain/restless-legs-syndrome/restless-legs-syndrome-rls .

I do not think you need to be concerned with MS or ALS as this doesn't sound like it.

If you are not seeing a doctor about this, you should (even a PCP).  Let us know if you have other questions.
