numbness in fingers

im an 18 year old female, every night lately for the past few weeks my right thumb and pointerfinger have been severly "falling asleep" waking me up, the only solution to fix it is to hang my hand over the side of the bed. anytime i move my hand it starts to hurt again. the pain is incredable and ive tired many things to fix it. They also swell badly when this happens, i was barely able to get my ring off this morning. ive tried sleeping different ways, removing pillows, adding pillows, everything. The only thing that has been different in my life is that a few weeks ago i started taking melatonin.
Can you please tell me what you think might be wrong.
Thanks

Having been through that, I would say that you have carpal tunnel syndrome.  Do you do a lot of repetitive work like typing, etc.

What activities are you doing with your hands during the day?  i.e. on the computer often?

Sounds like CTS.....Carpel Tunnel Syndrome or something involving the tendons in your hand.

Well.....consult your physician about this.

It could be how you are laying. Do you lay with your hands under your head, or do you lay with pressure on your hands. Try to lay with your hands been free so you can have good blood flow. I think that is the reason why you have numbness because you have bad blood flow to your hands. Please let me know if you try it or what you come up with.
