My daughter has had a shunt since she was 3.5 mos old due to a Grad IV IVH at birth and had a ancute onset of seizure activity this past March. Since then she was put on meds for seizures and recenlty Nov 1, 2007 had a break through not significant but the her doc increased the meds.
Honeestly and don;t candy coat, can she out grow this, what are the clinical reaearch findings on a hydro child ( due to brain bleed) outgrowing the seizures. And also can her body out grow the need for the shunt or due to the brain damage is it cse closed rest of her life type of deal.
I have a great Neurosurgeon and I trust him, but I am a concerned mother and don't close my mind to other help.
Thank You for your time

Hi.

The child may overgrow seizures, if the hydrocephalus is arrested. More importantly, the  intracranial tension should be controlled.
