severe shoulder and arm pain

I am having severe pain in my left shoulder.  My range of motion is very limited.  Can not get my arm over my head at all.  Trying to grab my belt buckles and pull my pants up is impossible.  I am not sure if it is a shoulder injury or a pinched nerve problem.  Any suggestions?

I am having the same symptoms with my left shoulder, trying to wash and curl my hair is very painful as well as almost impossible. fastening my bra and putting my shirt on is torture . I have had an MRI of my left shoulder and cervical X-Rays they have not found anything. I will go Monday for a cervical MRI, I am praying for some answers. My Dr. prescribed muscle relaxers and 800mg Ibuprofen, which doesn't help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
The causes of shoulder and arm pain are- frozen shoulder, muscle strain, Parsonage turner syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, shoulder bursitis, nerve compression or shoulder tendonitis. Please go for MRI of spine, and arm and consult a neurologist and orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
