short sharp pains right side of head on top

last night I had some sharp but very short lived pains in my head (like underneath the scalp) that only lasted 5 or 10 seconds.  Today I had some too.  Again not long lived but I thought that was strange.  I have some other health issues with high cholesterol but I am taking a bunch of meds (just added some recently) and take blood pressure medicine.  I am a male, 45.  Any thoughts?  No other symptoms like numbness, confusion, vision (although my close up eyesight has definitely changed in the last say 30-60 days as I now have to wear reading glasses constantly much more than before).

Migraine like headache can be throbbing, one sided of face & head and preceded by aura (starts with blurred vision). Please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the further underlying disorders by clinically examine you & ordering MRI or CT scan here that may be the main reasons of your headache attacks & other symptoms and can provide you an appropriate treatment. In January I started getting sharp stabbing pain in my right side of my head.  I found out it was called an ice pick headache.  This lasted off and on for 9 weeks and then just disappeared.  I hope I never get them again.   You could google this and see if this is what you were experiencing.  Hope it helps you.
