swelling of optic nerve

went to my eye doctor for regular check-up (new glasses) and found out my optic nerve had some swelling the doctor immeately send me to a specialist and he had me do an MRI that same day, the MRI came back clean and now i just had a spinal tap, when i asked the doctor doing the spinal tap what my csf pressure was he said 31 i then asked what was normal and he said 18.  I don't understand what this means can someone help me, i won't get actual results from my doctor for another 4 days, and the anxiety is killing me.

Thank you for your question. Optic nerve swelling may be reversed by few nutrients such as lutein, l-lysine, few vitamins & enzymes, and fish oil and may be a good help in preserving the vision. However, I think your treating ophthalmologist is the best judge who can see the extent of disease and provide a proper insight of the situation. Hope this helps.

Hi ingrid.I have swollen optic disks/nerves as well . It is called Papillodema. There are a few reasons for it, but the most common one is IIH/PTC., which I also have. If your lumber puncture ,opening pressure was 31 then I would say you are probabley looking at this for a diagnoses.
