very strange symptoms...please READ

i have had some strange symptoms on and off for about a year and a half now with NO explanation...have had MRI of brain and spine, vascular work ups, extensive blood work..no answers...my symptoms intermittant (come and go) but seem to worsen when stressed or very tired...they are as follows:

fatigue
joint pain
tingling (falling asleep feeling) in arms and legs (mostly on left side)
pain in ribcage, armpits...tender to touch
IBS
low grade fever (comes and goes)
buzzing feeling in different places
floaters
random lymph node swelling (sometimes painful)
sinus trouble

I know these symptoms are all VERY random but if ANYONE out there has experienced most or all of these symptoms and knows what might be going on PLEASE reply...i am at wits end and the doctors i have seen are of no help..they have no idea whats going on either

Thanks for the thoughts on the lymph nodes.  Actually, many of my health issues started after having Mononucleosis in 2004.  Since that time I have had more strange health issues than I ever had.  I had my tailbone out in 2005 which also caused some strange issues.

Thanks again.

Rain,
Your groin pain can also be a lymph thing, since they are located there, too, like the tenderness you report under the armpits.

The stuff I described in my earlier post is a lymph problem, in case it wasn't obvious.  The lymphs fight infection.  When they are overwhelmed, they get tender and sometimes swell.  The reason the armpits are the first to go in Sarcoid is because they're next to the lungs, which is one item that separates that lymph problem from others, it starts in the lungs.  Whatever the infection is, it goes to the lymphs, like cancer does, and then spreads to other organs on both sides of the abdomen.  The Sarcoid is also a "granular" type thing, which goofs up the joints.  Scarcoid also causes the tingling thing in the hands and feet, too.  Just wanted to clarify.

I don't really know what you guys have.  I have some cancer people in my family and lymphs became an issue, so I thought I'd tell what I know.  But, Rain and Kelly, telling a doc about lymph tenderness might steer them a little better in finding a diagnosis.

I absolutely would take the 6 months of doxy.  Why not?  It could help you tremendously.  As long as the doctor monitors your labs every couple of months you should be fine.  It's worth a try!  Some teens take antibiotics for years for acne and they are ok.

I just saw the urologist today and he's referring me to a pain specialist.  A couple other symptoms I have are:

*  Testicular pain (obviously doesn't apply to you!)
*  What I call brain fog.
*  Short term memory issues (I feel like I'm trying to speak through a steel wall)
*  Pain in my right thigh on the right side (feels like a balloon expanding in my thigh)
*  General skeletal aching.

Ironically, my mother has been battling Fibro for about 3 years which we think we brought on by stress due to my father's retirement (she's now 65) and them subsequently not getting along.  Hers comes and goes.

I've bounced between my GP, a urologist, and a gastro doctor who all refer me for more CT's, MRI's, blood tests, urine tests, and other fun things.

I'd be glad to know anything that you learn.

If your face has a red rash, you can look at Lupus.

I know a little bit about lymph problems.  Sarcoidosis might be the disease, which is unusual, but not too tragic or anything.  It is a type of Lymphadenopathy.  Sarcoidosis is caused by an infection, generally begins in the lungs (rib pain), affects the lymphs (tender armpit), joints, eyes, and causes that tingling, plus a lot of other stuff.  The treatment is corticosteroids, but sometimes it just goes away!

Hope this gives you two, Kelly and Rain, some new avenues to look at.  Seems like I remember concerning all this infection and lymph stuff, that certain drugs, like dilantin, some antibiotics, and some hypertension drugs, can cause some of your symptoms.  If you two compare notes on your medications, might help, too.

most of the doctors HAVE been of no help...the lyme doc said that the CD-57 test was the ONLY indication of lyme..and that it was, by itself, not reliable enough to say for sure...she wanted me to do 6 months of doxy...my PCP said that was dangerous...just dont kno who to put my faith in

kellik77,
You said, "...the doctors i have seen are of no help."
Then you said that a lyme doc in Texas evaluated you, and thinks that Lyme may be the problem.
You said that your primary care practitioner thinks that "Lyme is overrated."
Hah.  That's what so many traditionally trained doctors think, and they are wrong.
For your own sake, I hope you pursue treatment with the Lyme doc.

Raindelay,
Floaters are irregularities in the inside fluid of the eyeball, that you can vaguely see when you look at a blank wall or at the bright sky.  If they are bad enough, they can interfere with reading.
It is definitely not normal to feel like **** when you wake in the morning.  It indicates that you are not going into Stage 4 sleep, which is when the brain secretes growth hormone, which helps to repair the wear and tear on the muscle fibers.
I had this, and a rheumatologist diagnosed Fibromyalgia Syndrome, and prescribed low dose Flexeril at bedtime, which helped me to get into Stage 4 sleep.  I noticed a difference in just three days.
Fifteen years later, after alot of reading, I tested positive for Lyme Disease.  The Fibromyalgia Syndrome, which is just a collection of symptoms (not an actual disease), was due to the Lyme.

I have many of the same symptoms and have no clue from the doctors.

Yes - fatigue
Yes - joint pain
Yes - tingling (falling asleep feeling) in arms and legs (mostly on left side)
Yes - pain in ribcage, armpits...tender to touch
No   - IBS
Yes - low grade fever (comes and goes)
Yes - buzzing feeling in different places
??? - floaters  (not sure what this is)
No  - random lymph node swelling (sometimes painful)
No  - sinus trouble

The pain in the ribcage is something I have and it comes and goes in severity.  I can't figure it out but it bothers the heck out of me, especially in the mornings.  I'm just absolutely nailed in the mornings when I get out of bed.  I feel like an old man and I'm only 42.

No help from the doc's.

i have been to numerous doctors, one being a world renound neuro surgeon at UALR in Ark.....they have NO clue whats going on...i am now seeing a chiropractor who is trying to fix some problems with my neck (which he doesnt think has ANYTHING to do with my problems....the lyme thing...i took it upon myself to visit a lyme doctor here in texas about 8 months ago...she tested me for lyme and other coinfections...lyme test came back negative but she says this is typical...she believed that it could be lyme because she did a CD-57 test on me that came back 9...which she said is TOTALLY ABNORMALLY low and these low scores are seen in lyme patients...she wanted to treat me for lyme but my PCP suggested not to...he seems to think lyme is over rated...i am very frustrated and need some answers

Hi,

I would suggest you start taking a B12 supplement and get a vision test done as soon as you can.

I have almost all of them.  Lyme disease?

Although these symptoms seem random, they can all be caused by tick borne infection.
Lyme Disease affects all the body's systems, and other tick borne infections complicate the picture.
I would suggest posting a query on the Medical questions forum at LymeNet.org.
