Please advise

My boyfriend has a Tarlov cyst that formed because he had a massive growth spurt at a young age due to Marfan Syndrome and the base of his spine did not close. He is only 23 years old and suffers terrible pain from this. The neurosurgeon here in Fresno, CA said he couldn't remove it or drain it because there are nerves in the cyst. He will have to live with it for the rest of his life. He will start physical therapy soon to strengthen the muscles around his spine to alleviate pressure and has been placed on steroids, valum, and vicodine 5/500. The pain killers don't work and the doctor said there wasn't anything else he could do for him, but I know that there are other pain killers on the market. Should we get another opinion?

Yes, but  please dont count on stronger pain killers (to prevent drug-ependency). Did he tried Pergabalin or Gabapentin?

i got pinched on the lateral side of my left foot by a crab. it has become numb in about 1 inch distal to where it broke skin. it is numb in a 3 inch line. i dont have insurance and i am trying to rejoin the military but i am not sure if i will be able to pass the requirement of foot movement. and when i invert my left foot it puts massive pressure on the area that is numb.

Thank you for responding. No, he hasn't tried either of those. If he is going to have to live with this cyst then isn't it inevitable that he will be dependent on pain meds. The Vicodin 5/500 doesn't work.
