Baby Zebra Makes Her Debut

What is brown and white and galloping through Africa?
A zebra foal at the Kansas City Zoo.
The zebra made her public debut Friday at the zoo. Zoo officials said zebras are born with brown and white stripes and the brown will darken to black when she is between nine and 18 months old.
The baby, which hasn't been named yet, was born Saturday and now weighs 79 pounds. Her mom is Jet and dad is Zanthus. This is their third offspring.
Coming up on KMBC 9 News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. we will have more on the new zebra at the zoo.

Zebras are so cool. Can you imagine giving birth to something that weighs 79 lbs? Ouch!
