You must be kidding.  No politician is going to use their own money while they can raid the public's cupboard.

I must have missed that part of the interview.  I was cleaning the kitchen when it was on.  I can't stay on my feet sometimes for very long so I caught bits and pieces.

No more international or corporate welfare.  House and feed our own first and shut down that dam* border!  We cannot afford them either.  Now, if we could just get Washington to shut down for a while, maybe we could start digging out of this.  They just keep putting us in deeper.  It's easy to be charitable with other people's money.  Not so much with your own.

Very typical of left wing liberal tactics. Even some republicans are leaning left on these humanitarian efforts.  The simple fact of the matter is, we have many problems within our own borders that we arent resolving, and we are trying to save the rest of the world.  Unfortuantely it is at the expense of America.

In my personal opinion, funding for anything outside our borders ought to be cut off or to a bear minimum.  Trade policies need a major overhaul.  Somethings horribly wrong when you are importing more than youre exporting.

On another thread yesterday, a guy claimed that during WWII we basically made everything we needed.  There is a lot of truth to that.  There were also trade treaties that were signed around then that benefitted all parties involved.  These days, a vast amount of those treaties have turned into a foreign welfare program.  They arent working as they were meant to, and in return cost us too much for no return.  These treaties need to be written off.  We dont need to keep up with treaties that arent benefitting everyone, especially at the cost of our country!

Sure, I hate to hear about women and children dying in Africa because of smoke inhalation and poor ccoking habits.  But we have Americans dying in this country.  We have veterans who desperately need help.  Our schools suck for the most part.  We are losing production jobs to overseas companies.  We are 70% dependant on foreign oil...not necessarily from consumption, but because of bad trade treaties. (We are the worlds 2nd or 3rd largest producer of crude oil, and near the top of exportation of crude....then in return we are the worlds largest importer of crude oil....anyone else catch the bad math equation there???  This information was pulled from the CIA website.  www.cia.com or .org)  On 60 minutes years ago, a Saudi oil Prince said our policies were antiquated.  He mentioned that we export oil to developing countries, and its assumed that those countries are exporting the same oiil back to us at a higher cost.  I dont know the validity of that statement, but if its true, that is exactly the kind of thing that needs to changed.

Ah....done ranting.

I read that and saw Mrs. Bush on Greta.  She is such a classy lady.

We don't have the money for cook stoves for anyone.  I read the reason was that women and children were dying because of smoke inhalation due to open fires in the house.  They've been doing this for centuries.  If they haven't figured out it yet, that this is a deadly practice, do you really believe that $50 million in stoves will help?

I didn't see a list of countries.  I'd be very interested in seeing that.  Money going to Africa has a way of not getting to the people for whom it's intended.  Corruption is abundant and I bet somehow this is going to be the same case.
