Any advice for losing the fat layer to uncover the 6 pack?

Most people will never look like that.  Most people who do look like that take steroids to get there.  Some people just have tremendous genes and can get there naturally.  It's even harder for women, because the extra skin makes bearing children easier.  If you look at any tribal people, in other words, where we all came from, you won't find sixpack abs.

Don't listen to paxiled. They obviously don't know what they are talking about. ANYONE can have 6 pack abs. Hard work dedication and discipline is what it will take. And btw it won't happen over night or in 4 weeks it takes time to change your bodies metabolic rate. First be calorie deficient 250-500 calories a day everyday until you reach your goal. Then maintain = calorie intake needed to maintain desired weight. Second, get in a program that continually challenges you. Thirdly, stay away from long drawn out cardio sessions. Your body will get used to it and learn to conserve energy/calorie output to do said session. Instead to HIIT ( High Intensity Interval Training ) programs this will keep your metabolic rate in overdrive long after you are done with your work out session. Lastly, incorporate weight training into your work outs lean muscle BURNS fat. Look into beach body programs they have a lot of great ones for your desired appearance. Hope this helps

Fit4thekids is correct! I would suggest trying the following!
The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between. Ideally you’ll be sprinting or cycling full throttle for 30 seconds with a 90 second cool down in between
each outburst. This is the fastest way to lose fat and build muscle in the body. Peak 8 actually stimulates the growth hormone in the body. I encourage you to visit Dr Mercola’s site to learn more about Peak 8 fitness because I personally feel that it is one of the best ways to exercise, especially considering the speed at which you can lose fat and build muscle. I highly recommend you read this article and watch the videos on the page. It will give you all the information you need to know about Peak 8  Flood Your Body With This “Youth Hormone” In Just 20 Minutes.
What you eat after Peak 8 training does matter It’s recommended that you do not eat sugar or carbohydrate for 2 hours after the Peak 8 exercise because these foods can impact the release of the growth hormone in the body. The links are,

Figure your heart rate by this formula
The Karvonen Formula is a mathematical formula that helps you determine your target heart rate zone. The formula
involves using your maximum heart rate (MHR) minus your age to come up with a target heart rate range (which is
a percentage of your MHR). Staying within this range will help you work most effectively during your cardio
workouts.
An example of the Karvonen formula for a 23 year old person with a resting heart rate of 65 beats per minute (to get your resting heart rate, take your pulse for one full minute when you first wake up in the morning or after you've resting for a while). This formula also includes an updated calculation of maximum heart rate (the previous formula
was 220 - age, which has now been shown to be inaccurate)
206.9 - (0.67 x 23 (age)) = 191
191 - 65 (resting heart rate) = 126
126 * 65% (low end of heart rate zone) OR 85% (high end) = 82 OR 107
82 + 65 (resting heart rate) = 147
107 + 65 (rhr) = 172
The target heart rate zone for this person would be 147 to 172
First thing in the morning before you get out of bed have a clock with a second hand and check your resting heart rate then figure your rate by the
Karvonen Formula above.
You burn 30 percent more fat from doing cardio after a weights session as opposed to cardio on its own.
I suggest buying a heart rate monitor.

Oh, please, guys, you both know that not everyone or very many people will ever have six pack abs.  Why would we want them anyway unless you watch too many TV commercials?  You're both just selling something you want to be true because you both do it, but I'll bet a lot (if I had a lot) that Gymdandee for sure doesn't have six pack abs.  What I said is the factual truth, but you can play pretend genetics if you want, just don't try and demoralize other people as you play fantasy genetics.  I go to Gold's Gym, which is one of the hardest core gym in the country, and I watch a lot of sports, and almost nobody has six pack abs except the ones who use steroids or have remarkable genetics.  You guys have been reading too many Arnold Swarzenegger publications.

Creating a toned midsection takes a lot of hard work and dedication but it is possible, despite genetics. Remember it is 70% diet and 30% exercise. Both sides of my family are overweight but I was able to lose 35 pounds and get the toned midsection with clean eating, little cardio, and weight training.

I guess I am confused how does steroids give you 6 pack abs? Steroids cause water retention and the majority of people who are using steroids tend to over eat to gain size causing increases fat around the mid section. When cycling off they will often times increase cardiovascular and or HIIT training to drop body fat as well as eat clean.  To gain size doing these types of activities are counter productive. Heavy lifting, a lot of food and timing with food, and a lot of rest to rebuild. No where in that equation does lean 6 pack abs come into play. I have been training people for a long time and I stand by my conviction that anyone can have 6 pack abs. Some just have to work harder than others. Working abs is not comfortable and people don't like doing it that is why you will find people that may be in really good shape and have a tight mid section with no clear definition of the individual abdominal muscles. The only way to make them pop is to put in the work and eat right!!! But steroids do not I repeat do not make 6 pack abs

What happened to you? You used to be a nice guy! Have you stopped taken pax? Let me tell you something I don't know your age but I'm 69 and In great shape!! I'm on coumadin and have to be careful on my protein intake as in interferes with coumadin and I have to watch my vitamin K as you know that helps clotting so I'm limited to my greens. My six pack isn't what it used to be. I'm at the gym 5 days per week! P.S. Don't know about you but my Testosterone is just over 630.

I'm a nice guy when people aren't trying to flummox other people.  What are we here for but to help other people instead of spreading misinformation, which is something you do a lot -- I don't think you do it unintentionally, I just think you do it because you read a lot of things and like to report them as if they're fact and not theory based on limited research.  Look, in 18 years managing health food stores, and I keep saying this, I've seen so many fads come and go that I've just realized there's a lot more information out there than factual knowledge.  For the guy above who doesn't understand how steroids help, he just doesn't have any idea about the use of steroids.  I used to sell body building supplements that didn't really work and weren't healthy, but it's what businesses do to make money and keep their customers.  It turned out that most of this stuff was being pushed by the Swarzenegger empire of publications.  He hasn't been in this biz since he entered politics, but these magazines were sent to us with the supplements we ordered and they gave very specific instructions on how to build muscle definition with steroids.  The bodybuilding community split into two contests -- the one with the steroid takers and the one without, and if you look at the definition, including abs, you will see the steroid and other drug takers have by far the best definition.  The stuff works.  But it's not healthy.  I guess I agree with the trainer above that if you spend a substantial portion of your life working your ab muscles you will get toned -- but toned isn't the same as the six pack.  Toned is great, but nobody should be so focused on how they look that they sacrifice all that life has to offer for abs that are unnaturally sticking out of your body.  What steroids do is force the body to expand muscle, provided you aren't cancelling it out by eating pizza every meal.  So a tight midsection is great, that I agree with, but that, again, isn't six pack abs.  And it isn't necessary to look good or be healthy.  Now, as for gymdandee, I wasn't referring to your physical shape, I thought you'd get the hidden reference to our tribe, which doesn't produce six pack abs!  And why would I care about your testosterone levels?  Feeling insecure?  It's best not to have high testosterone, given the certainty of prostate cancer and enlarged prostate.  Health isn't the same as looks.  Personally, I've been extremely active all my life, with years of basketball and kung fu, but frankly, I'm so injured now I shouldn't be going to the gym at all anymore.  But never in my life did I care if I had six pack abs, nor did I care if the women in my life had them.  But I have been fit, and that's a whole different thing.  Now, gym, you should know I haven't been on Paxil for nine years now -- going off it is what destroyed my life.  That's what brought me to this site.  As for being nice, gym, too many times your personal blog or journal on this website popped up on my home page and I realized the kind of person you are -- you have to know that if you put that kind of stuff up people are going to see it and react to it.  As I've said, I used to like the general posts you put up for educational purposes, but when it comes to specific questions you're just not very good either at addressing them or assessing the true value of the info you publish.  You don't include caveats about the limited nature of the research.  I don't know if you're following this, but Dr. Oz, who likes to make money and fame for himself by pushing things that have no traditional use and no proof of long-term benefit, had been called on the carpet in congressional hearings because as a trained doctor he should know better.  But he does it for the money and the fame, and then other people quote him to sell the newest fad, and you pick this up on Google and put it out for people here.  I'm just trying to get you to be more thoughtful.  I'm failing, but I'm trying to protect the people who post here -- why else would I contribute?  Telling everyone they can have six pack abs gives them the idea it's a good thing to want and something they can all have, and that just isn't the case and it isn't important to their health.  It more reflects low self image, and I try to make them feel better about themselves and to not harm themselves pursuing things that might in the long run be unsafe.  But I will never tell you personally not to do what you do -- that's up to you and I'm fine with it.  It just isn't what anyone else should necessarily do.  Peace.

Where in any if my posts did I tell anyone to engage in any supplements or any thing that is unsafe or unhealthy? I and not telling someone to do cycling with sustinan or tembilone or d-ball pills. I could put a clinic/class on the use and effects of steroid use. But no where did I indicate for someone to use these products to  achieve their goals. Nor did I lead anyone to believe that their self worth is measured by their abdominal definition. They asked how to get them  and the guidelines I stated is/has/and forever will be the way to achieve the 6 pack abs one desires. I have trained people from 300lbs+ down to 8% body fat with a very predominate 6  pack. No where did I say it would be easy and not take sacrifice. Only to include eating for fuel and not for flavor. Everyone has at least 6 pack abdominal muscles. I for one and lucky and have a split in my lower abdominal wall that prrople call an 8 pack. I didn't always have a prodominate mid section. But through hard work and eating properly I and many others have achieved it. With out steroids!!! Obviously you do not have a 6 pack and that is ok but just because you don't have the discipline to achieve doesn't mean you need to tell others it's not possible.

I didn't say nobody could achieve it, I said most people won't.  And that it isn't worth the time, given the far more important things there are to achieve in life.  But given this seems to be very important to you and not so much to me, I'm very happy for your achievement, such as it is.  But really, accusing me of lack of discipline when you don't know me?  The internet really is an odd place.

That's it pax. It's not worth YOUR time! But it's worth the time to others.
As for T level I meant that with good nutrition and lifestyle some things are possible.

Hi everyone -

We've restored your posts, but let's keep this civil. (For the most part, it has been.) Please leave the personal comments ("You used to be a nice guy", "don't listen to him", etc.) out of it, and just discuss.

If anymore personal insults are made, the comments will be taken down again.

Thanks,

Emily

By the way, you did get me that the six pack comment about you was an inside joke among tribesmen, right?  It wasn't meant to be an insult at all or a reflection of how you look.
