Help for lack of appetite

Hi ive struggled with my appitite for a while its just some days i dont feel hungry and ill pick on bits of food all day but not having proper meals
Im now in my third trimester of pregnancy and although ive been putting on weight and measuring perfectly for dates i cant help but worry as some days i just snack like today
Ive had some biscuits and tea for breakfast
Some chocolate cereal bars and a few raisins for lunch
An ice lolly and small bit of carrot cake for snacks!
Then a salad with feta and goats cheese a bit of pasta and sausages for dinner
I usually have a glass of milk and some crackers or biscuits for supper
Is this really bad? How can i improve my diet and appetite!? Why dont i feel hungry some days?
Any advice appreciated thanks x

Hi Melalj.

If your anxiety is not something you've been experiencing since a long time ago, it is possible it has a lot to do with your endocrine system.

A well-balanced hormonal system -hormones are like chemical messengers-
will help ensure that you're receiving the right signals in the brain.
An hormonal imbalances may explain not only the anxiety (with other possible consequences from the anxiety itself) and lack of appetite, but also your PND in the past.
So, maybe you should discuss it with doctor and have it ruled out or ruled in.

The endocrine/hormonal system is very complex and you may have to be referred to a gynecological endocrinologist, probably the best suited specialty for this, for accurate & effective evaluation.

Hope this helps.

Hi Melalj.

Why do I get the feeling that there's a lot more going on?
By no means do I intend to put you down or anything like this,
but there must be some issues, like hormonal/adrenal, mental/emotional.

Do you have a good support system-partner, mother, good friend etc.?
Do you have regular communication with your doctor?
Do you use any of your community health resources in regards to your pregnancy?
Are you getting nutritional advice from a dietitian?

Your food intake is not bad, however, it can be greatly improved.
Do you get any type of activity? The more active you are the more likely your appetite will increase.
Do you sit down with other family members for meals?

Sorry for the 20 questions, lol! but ,it might help me come up with some useful suggestions for you.

Best wishes.

Niko
