List of Essential Nutrients?

Does anyone know for a reliable list of essential nutrients? According to some websites, currently 45 nutrients are considered essential, but there is no complete list mentioned anywhere.

take a look at youngevityproducts.net. Youngevity's been around since '91. Their main platform is the "90 for Life". The founder "Dr. Wallach" talks about this as the 90 essential nutrients your body needs to maintain optimal health. The 90 include: 60 essential minerals,12 essential amino acids, 16 essential vitamins, and 3-4 essential fatty acids.
Hope this helps!

That's what I'm looking for! Is there a food, or a handful of foods, that would assure a person of getting all the necessaries every day?

Well, if you're going to define essential the way you want, then include anything you want.  If you mean just the ones the body can't synthesize, well, some of those Bs can be synthesized by probiotics in the intestinal tract, though not necessarily enough to fill all requirements.  Without boron, you can't utilize calcium or Vitamin D, so I'd say that's essential.  Without germanium, many of your other nutrients listed here will oxidize, so I'd say it's essential.  I'd say betacarotene is essential, because if you take Vitamin A in too high of quantities you'll get liver disease so you need betacarotene to synthesize the Vitamin A from safely.  Without lutein, you'll lose your vision to oxidation.  Without CoQ10 you won't be able to produce energy in your cells and your heart won't function properly.  Now, I could go on, but the question really is, not what's essential since there are too many to count and we learn about more every decade, but how much of them do you get from your diet and is your body properly synthesizing what you need, meaning some of the non-essential nutrients better be there or you can't make the essential ones.

Essential nutrients, by definition, are nutrients your body needs to sustain life, but it can synthesize them, so you have to obtain them by food.

All vitamins and minerals, you've listed, are essential, and there are more; my current list includes:

Water
Vitamin A (retinol)
Vitamin B1 (thiamin)
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin)
Vitamin B3 (niacin, vitamin P, vitamin PP)
Vitamin B5 (panthotenic acid)
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxin)
Vitamin B7 (biotin, vitamin H)
Vitamin B9 (folic acid, folate, folacin, vitamin M)
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin)
Vitamin Bp (choline) (63)
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
Vitamin D (vitamin D2 or ergocalciferol, and vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol)
Vitamin E (tocopherol)
Vitamin K (vitamin K1, K2, K3, K4, K5, K6, which all are naphthoquinones)
Calcium
Chloride
Chromium
Copper
Iodine
Iron
Magnesium
Manganese
Molibden
Phosphorus
Potassium
Selenium
Sodium
Sulfur
Zinc
Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)
Linoleic acid
Arginine (essential only for children)
Isoleucine
Histidine (essential only for children)
Leucine
Lysine
Methionine
Phenylalanine
Tryptophan
Threonine
Valine

So, above is 42 nutrients, I still need 3.

Aluminium, boron, nickel, germanium, arsenic, silicon, vanadium are currently not considered as essential.
