Magnesium

Hello!

First off sorry for any mistakes but english is not my native language. Secondly i hope i put this in the right spot since it's my first time here.

I was told by by doctor earlier that i had a magnesium shortage after i went in for an exam. He told me it could take a while before it started working.
After about a month i started feeling better but currently i'm getting the symptoms again even tough i'm still taken the magnesium.

Symptoms included:
* muscle twitches (most irritating!)
* pains appering and disapeering over my whole body
* wierd sensations in my legs
* tiredness
* feeling week.

If your family has a history of IBS and you feel you have it too, I suggest you get tested to rule out Celiac disease (It is the most missed-diagnosed disease in the USA); have Iron profile blood work; and lower your amount of Mg supplement to 240mg a day since you are eating foods rich in Mg. Mg is a mineral and it is healthier to only intake the amount recommended.

Thank you for you're awser!

I am a female and i'm currently taking 450mg a day and not pregnant. The doctor explained that the excess amount whould makes sure the deficiency whould cease.
Other then that i have no known diseases but i do have suspected IBS since my family on my dads side has problems with it and I seem to have them to.

I love the foods you summed up and eat them regulary and in good amount.

I do have problems with iron. I have a shortage around every year and a half.

Magnesium deficiency is rare unless there is a secondary disease causing malabsorption of magnesium (Mg). You did not state if you have any other medical issues or diseases. The recommendation for magnesium for an adult male is 350mg per day and adult female is 280 mg a day (increased to 320-340mg if pregnant or breast feeding). I do not know if you are a male or female. Are you taking the amount as above?
It is recommended that the Mg comes from food sources and is found in a variety of foods. The best sources are beans (legumes), nuts, whole grains, and green vegetables.  I do suggest you go back to your Doctor and have blood work done, especially an Iron profile.
