The research is in the athletes. If they ate just fruit there muscles couldn't handle the endurance and they are the most healthy of all people because they stay in tip top shape.
Tom venuto has writen some great stuff about this and so have others but if you are looking for med research you probably won't find it. Dieticians and other med field people tell you go by BMI and just go by calories not read the ingrediants of the food you eat like comercial yogurt that has corn starch in it which is one of the worst things to consume. So I have lost 60 pounds by eating protein every 3 hours and I am in the best shape of my life. Now I did not say that I follow the Atkins diet all I am saying is this fast, which is for 7 days of nothing but water lemons and maple syrup ( I may have forgotten an ingrediant) but I would say that has to really bad for your body. There are other great fasting systems out there that don't require you to starve

I don't agree with it at all. For example your body needs protein every 3-4 hours so I beleive that cleans in starving your body of things that you need.
