Tingling tongue

I have been having an issue with my tongue lately.  Feels like it is enlarged, its not, I keep looking.  But I am very aware of it, if that makes sense.  And I know throughout my life, I have not noticed it before.  It tingles, and almost feels in the way.  I feel like I am slurring, no one seems to notice but me.  I did have a low b-12 count about 6 months ago, 160, I brought it up to 500, and recently to 2000, which is very high.  Could this be it?  I thought there was no such thing as too high of a b-12 count\.  Can I be missing some other vitamin?  Anyone have any ideas?  Thank you.

Hello - I also have suffered with numb tongue, tinggling tongue, feeling like a rubberband was around it and at times slurring  and noticing after many  years that it felt swollen when i slurred.  i have come to find out that it is a ph problem.  ( ph changing when eating wrong foods) i also will notice dry eyes when waking up and or weepy eyes for about 1 hr upon waking.   our ph balance starts in our mouth with saliva mixing with our food.    most of our problem is if we don't have enough ensymes released  in our stomach to break down the food then we suffer different ailments. hydrocloride is one that is produced and is important for that. eating things like more pineapple ( has bromaline ensyme),  helps.  Basically our systems are becoming overloaded with "acidic foods"  when we should be eating more alkaline foods.  The real culprit starts from our stomach registering that we are eating something we are allergic to.  i have found out i do have allergies to corn, corn oil, corn meal, pop corn, corn syrup, wheat  flour and still on a hunt for others.  i don't have traditional " celiac  disease" tho. i will notice tingling/swelling after drinking sodas, eating large amounts of breads, pasta, etc.. anything that might be the wrong grain. i now eat more rye crackers and rye bread  i also eat rice which is a good alternative .  there is also reseach that an old indian grain quinoh might be a good substitue.

i would suggest being watchful when the tingling / numbness happens.  if it happens upon waking you might think about what foods you ate before bed and or how close you ate before bed. also you will notice it starting up within 45 min of eating a wrong food.

mineral water or mineral drops from the health food store would help balance ph somewhat. just add to your water bottle.

as a note: i have started taking bromalain tablets with my food and this helps alot.

hope this helps. let me know if you would like more ideas.

I just saw your post.  So even though my b-12 has risen all the way to 2000, in your opinion, I could still be having symptoms from when it was low?  After I hit the 2000, my doctor told me to stop with the daily sublinquals and just continue the once a month shots.  My general doctor doesn't think it is all b-12 related because she says by now I should have seen some sort of improvement.

I have also been seeing a neurologist for numbness in different areas and tingling sensations.  I have had numerous testings.  Alot of people tend to lean towars MS, but THANK GOD, I keep passing the tests.

Thank you for any advice/input.

ManySymptoms,

Yes, absolutely low b-12 can be the culprit.  Are you still taking supplements (oral or shots)? Once you are found to have a low B-12, you need to stay on lifelong supplemenation, to maintan a normal level.

Low B-12 can cause many symptoms with a sore tongue being just one. Poor taste buds. Even though your B-12 went back to normal, or above, your levels needs to be monitored for the rest of your life.

I have low B-12 also. My level was 89 when it was discovered.
I had been sent to a neurologist for numbness in my lower face that was coming & going. I was also experiencing numbness in my extremities, memory loss & depression.  All symptoms of low B-12. I don't know how long my B-12 was that low but I have permanent nerve damage & memory problems along with who knows what else.

God Bless, TJ
