Tips for a late night snacker

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to see if y'all have any tips to help with my bad habit of late night snacking on sweets and other foods. I do a pretty good job at eating healthy for the day, but right before bed I get hit with cravings and a need to feel full. I don't know if this is a learned psychological need or if I'm missing something and my body is trying to tell me. It's the only thing so far that's bumping me off track.
Thank you for the support!

I'm going to say I have too disagree with some of the comments above. :-( you don't want to do fruit in the evening. Even natural sugars aren't good at night. You also don't want carbs in the evening typically, unless you worked out late and need them. Soup is typically high in sodium and to go to bed with high sodium is a no go also. Soup in general (even during the day usually has a lot of hidden sodium). If I have late night cravings I usually go for a veggie. (Cucumber, carrots, etc) something with crunch can trick your brain. Also trt drinking water. Sometimes it can be that you're bored. Also hot tea is one of my go to things at night. The warmth is soothing and gets your mind ready for bed! But most of all work on retraining your brain! It takes a long time to break habits. Self control can go a long way. Knowing the difference between actual hunger and being bored/habit will go a long way for you! Good luck! :-)

Sometimes late night snacking is a response to a needed taste, a sweet, salty,or crunch or chocolate,or warm or cold(trying to fill a need or emotion)                                                                                                                       I try to cleanse my palette with a citrus:lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit or a pickle (sweet or dill). Walk away from the tv. Brush your teeth. Rinse with mouthwash. The time it takes to complete anyone of these suggestions or complete all of them gives your brain enough time to forget about its initial urge. One more suggestion keep all snack food in the farthest reaches of your kitchen cupboards or drawers . Its helpful to divide those treats into individual servings and mark the calorie content directly on each serving. I find changing the thought and the behavoir give good results.
Best of luck! Keep trying!

Try  small fruit/veggie with a full glass of water. It Satisfies hunger and craving and is less calories and is nutrious.
