This is a complicated question, given the number of different types of meds. But generally speaking, any med used to control blood pressure, seizures, mood or anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, or most other psychiatric disorders, along with any med used for pain management should be tapered slowly in consultation with your physician.
As a general rule, talk to your physician before changing the dose of your meds. Most physicians do not take kindly to patients who adjust their meds on their own. They want to work with you on what can be a challenging and in some cases risky (if done abruptly) process.
Did you have a particular med or class of meds in mind when asking this question? If so, do mention it. You can always look up meds online at sites like RxList.com for complete information.
Thank you, this was exactly the information I was looking for. The website link you gave is very helpful and will be where I will go to learn more information about transitioning off of specific meds. I'm very happy to have received your answer.
