Under weight with food allergies

My child is 4'4" and is 10 yrs. old. He is allergic to all milk, products and by products of milk, he stops breathing. He is very, very active in little league baseball and travel ball, but is interested in little league football in the fall. I homeschool and  was trying to find ways to increase his weight safely, to try out, when I came across this site and spoke to other parents with children his age and realized he may be really under weight. What can I feed him and is he grossly under wieght. I did have problems gaining weight growing up. I to drank instant breakfast and milkshakes to gain, but with his allergy, what can I do?

Your son is only a few lbs. under weight for his age (just under the 10th percentile weight for age) and his height is normal for his age. You can make him milkshakes with Soy milk (has no milk products in it) and frozen fruit which has extra calories and protein. Soy products are a good substitute. Thank you for your question.
