supplements for liver damage

I am a recovering alcoholic with liver damage.  My doctor is pleased that I eat a very healthy diet.  I am just now 55 yrs.old.  I have been taking Liv.52 for almost 1.5 years with vitamins.  Liv.52 came highly recommended, but contains no Milk thistle.  I would like to start taking Milk thistle,  I have read about the recooperative abilities of SAMe and NAC regarding the liver.  What may be the best combination of any or all of these four supplements to help and protect my liver now that I am sober.  Thank you, babnair.

The healthy part of the liver will grow again now that you are sober. To help your liver is to decrease your fat intake. The less fat in our digestive system, the less the liver has to work to break it down. You really do not need the supplements. Suggest  a heart healthy diet which means a moderate fat diet to lower the fat content of your foods and increase ‘good’ fats to benefit your body. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats and no Trans fats. Eat low fat meats (chicken, fish, loin of pork) or non-meat sources (soy products, nuts), low fat vegetarian combinations (rice & beans, pasta & beans, low fat cheese & pasta), fat free or low fat dairy products (skim milk, 1% milk, low fat cheese, low fat yogurts, low fat soy milk/yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal). Hoped this helped you.
