Do I have OCD or it's just lack of control?

I can't stop chewing my fingers to the point that it is full of painful calluses and my head is starting to hurt whenever I chew nonstop. I do stuff like 'rituals' but not out of being superstitious, like doing things three times or whenever I look to my left I will have to look to my right for no reason. I do hate certain numbers like 2, 4, 6, 7,8, 9 and 11. I also often use a lot of alcohol. I just want to know if I really do have an OCD or I just need some self control.

Oops....well take out the part about self-medicating and keep the rest of my reply in.

I think you misunderstood what I meant by alcohol. When I said I use a lot of alcohol, I meant I use isopropyl alcohol to clean my hands whenever I feel it's dirty.

Hi there.  Stress doesn't have to be something that smacks you right in the face.  There are a lot of subtle stressors in our life that we may not really be aware of.  The chewing could very well be part of OCD that has now become a habit for you.  It is a way to relieve stress.  The rituals that you do...well those could be classified as OCD as well but you would need to see a psychologist to get diagnosed.  As with any mental disorder, anxiety, OCD, ADHD even....when it is untreated, sometimes people self-medicate with alcohol and drugs.  It seems to be that you are self-medicating.  You posted on this forum because you realize you have a problem that you cannot get a handle on yourself.  So my suggestion is to see a psychologist, get diagnosed and together come up with a treatment plan to help you manage your suspected OCD.  The alcohol is going to come back to bite you in the end so best to get a handle on the disorder now.  Let me know if you need anything else.  Take care of you!
