Does anyone know why people rock back and forth when standing still

When I was a kid people noticed that I rock back and forth when standing still. Both me and my cousin do it all the time. Any ideas on why people do that? I have never asked my doctor and I should probably ask her.

Body rocking can alleviates stress and it is a form of OCD.  Some people body rock all day long and it interferes with their daily lives.  Is this your situation?  Or do you just notice you sway when standing still?
