Tired of anxiety

A few months ago I had to be tested for hepatitis c due to possible exposure during an accident. I had to wait for 3 months for the all clear, which was awful. Now I can't seem to accept that I'm negative and worry constantly about exposing my family to my blood. Also, as my exposure was to dried blood I panic every time I see possible blood stain I panic. I have had PTSD in the past and OCD so I don't know which is causing this. I know medication would help but I also have epilepsy and the medication for that is already causing health issues so I'm not keen to take more medication. As an example of how much I panic I went to put some paper in a public trash can today, the wind blew it onto my hair, I ended up coming home to wash my hair. Now I'm at home with clean hair I realise that I should have looked at the trash can to see if there were any stains where the paper touched it and then if not carried on with what I was doing but in the moment I panic so much I can't think clearly. Can anyone suggest anything that can help.

you can purchase book "Overcoming Obsessive Thoughts: How to Gain Control of Your OCD by David A. Clark",this book is really helpful, there are other books also like brain lock and the ocd workbook you can use them for self help

Thanks. I'm sure it is OCD. I'm interested in CBT but last time I asked about it I was told that there is a 6 month waiting list, I live in the UK so small relying on the NHS as I can't afford to pay. I was wandering if there is anything self help that I can do to keep me going.

this looks more like ocd symptoms, because testing ,checking and doubting are common features of ocd, if you cannot take medication , go for therapy , try to consult a psychologist and ask him about cognitive behavior therapy
