pure-o ocd can't study

I' pretty sure I have ocd and have been on fluoxetine for the last couple of months. My obsessions which had to do with repugnant thoughts got really bad and caused me to have high anxiety. After a few weeks the prozac really seemed to be working although the ocd was still there but nowhere near as much. Last week though I seemed to have another attack and can't control my thoughts again. My hands wont stop shaking and it's almost impossible to study. My isn't the fluoxetine working anymore? It was good to feel normal again even if it was only for a few weeks. How do I stop myself from getting so stressed?

well yes you would want to tell your doctor...but obviously there is no wonder drug that solves every problem. i think you should expect that you can't magically be better and that you will rebound...but the meds will help you rebound less and less over time until eventually you are at a point where you are living life more than living with ocd. this may take months and med adjusting...but don't give up on them anytime soon and keep in mind that the meds will help make the attacks fewer and shorter in length. accepting that you will rebound may help you not stress so much about it. while that may not seem like much...it will allow your mind to more freely find a balance. and maybe keep a journal to share with your doctor. you and him will both be able to see if the frequency of your attacks are fewer and if the meds really are working. good luck.

learning how to control your attacks by relaxation and breathing patterns really helps most people in this situation. you can look them up online. the medication might have stopped working. the best thing to do is talk to your doctor. take care
