Severe hand washing need help

I've been suffering from severe hand washing for 2 years now. So bad that my hands are always red and cold like I have damaged the nerves ? Is this possible? How can I get my hands back to normal at this point? After using the restroom I will was my hands with soap and water for over a minute till I mentally feel they are clean. I do have genital herpes and have had this for over 5 years. I feel like after directly touching myself then I need to wash the herpes off my hand. How long do I was for to kill of the virus ? Thank you.

Get a good cream for your hands and you need to get rid of the ritual of singing while washing.  Get a timer and take in the bathroom with you and set it for 15 seconds.  That is plenty of time to wash your hands.  Anything more is overkill and that is what you want to avoid.  Remember, the rest of us out there do not know who has genital herpes and we are using public rest rooms with them and not getting herpes as a result of it.

I sing the birthday song twice , then 28 seconds using 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi up to 28, then another 2 happy birthday songs till I feel like the virus won't be on my hands. How can I get rid of my red and damaged hands would you say?

Hi there.  You need to practice normal hygiene like everybody else.  When you use the restroom, wash your hands.  I think a normal amount of hand washing is about 15 seconds or so.  Whatever is enough to turn the water on, put soap on your hands, rub it around and wash it off.  

If you are washing to the point that your hands are damaged, then obviously you are doing it too much and too long.  How long do you think you are washing them?  You say over a minute but how long does it take for you to "mentally feel they are clean?"
