Is 40mg of prozac a lot for a 14 year old?

Basically i posted a question about my ocd and transgender fear. So i told my parents and they took me to a doctor and phsycologist. I am on 20mg of prozac a day in liquid form. Starting monday i am being pushed up to 40mg a day. I have been taking the med for 5 days now.

Don't worry about the amount. They wouldn't prescribe you the wrong dose. I'm glad you spoke to your parents and you saw and hopefully are still seeing a psychologist.

I was in the 4 week range myself.

although 3 to 4 weeks is more common. You may see a difference in as little as a week.

It seems like a quick bump up, but trust your doctor. Usually, there is more time inbetween dosage increases, but everyone is different, and your dr. knows you the best. The typical range of Prozac for an adult with OCD is about 80 mg, anywhere from 60 to 100 plus.
