The need to Pick dandruff from scalp.

Hi,  Im not sure if I have posted in the right place but anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

For some time now, I have the urge almost constantly to run my fingers through my hair to find any loose dandruff particles that I would then pull out and roll in my fingers. I don't know why.  It's soothing, yes, but I don't do it when I'm particularly stressed, I just do it when I'm comfortable.  Sometimes I just brush my hair and watch the particles fall on dark clothing. I know something similar has been posted to this site before, but their issue was different as they physically hurt themselves too by creating scabs, which I never do.

I think it all started when I was younger and got a bad case of Head Lice (sorry, it's vile) and I gained a morbid fascination with getting them and their eggs out by picking.   I've been not free for a great number of years, but am still picking at my scalp.

Can somebody help/ advise me what's making me do this because it's beginning to drive me around the bend. It's also really unsightly and embarrassing.

Cheers
Jay

Hey Jay i have that same problem before but now i already dont have it my advice is just keep away your hands from ur scalp like what tushar said and when u take a bath use a shampoo That can remove dandruff like "Head and Shoulders" and when u take a bath after u shampoo just leave it for 5 mins so u can feel something cool in ur head and after that wet it and dry and whenever u comb ur hair do it slowly just dont do something that can remove ur dandruff just leave it on the shampoo so you wont have any further problems.

I do it myself ,its been pointed out to me but its not a big problem for me.

I think you can stop it by yourself, it has become a habit for you, so you need to keep your hands away from your scalp, it will be hard for you in starting , but i think you will be able to get away from it.
