I am 19 now, between the ages of 9 through 14, I used to pull out my hair. Just one strand at a time, and I wouldn't even think about it. It was very calming. I wouldn't even think anything of it until i started forming small bald spots on my head. My mom got worried and I was too embarrassed to admit to her that I had been pulling out my own hair. She took me to the dermatologist thinking I was going bald at age 10 and I lied to both of them saying I had no idea why my hair was missing. He gave me some topical cream to replenish hair growth. But the years went on and my addiction continued. However I moved on to not so noticeable areas like the base of my neck. Once in highschool however and a friend of mine pointed out a bald spot, it embarrassed me. And I forced myself to stop. I would sit on my hands when I had an urge to pluck a few hairs. I'd shred paper or twiddle my thumbs instead, or doodle. After about 6 months all my bald spots were replaced with lovely healthy hair, which i am thankful for.
In highschool I became anorexic, that is when my mom got worried and took me to a psychologist. I learned about the condition Trichotillomania and how it can lead to Anorexia. She told me that if I had gone to a doctor sooner and told them of my hairpulling, the Anorexia would have possibly been prevented. I am cured now, weigh 132 and I feel sexy and beautiful. I forget the exact relation between hair pulling and anorexia, I just know that with enough will power and help from friends, you Can stop.
- I know nothing about the disorder and here

is what i have read about it ... Who diagnosed you? How old are you now? And if it is a considerable period of time perhaps you should seek a second opinion , disorders change as we change :-) , and this is where you should start from.
