Hi,
Approximately 2.5 years ago, I had a biopsy done on the lateral side of my tongue, along the midline of it. I never really looked it afterwards (too chicken), but I know sutures were involved. The biopsy came back normal tissue.
The other day I went to a new dentist and he was concerned about how my tongue looked. It looks like a small groove, about 5 mm long, and has some white stuff in it. He told me it concerned him, but this was before I told him my tongue had been biopsied before in the same area. Could this just be scarring or where the previous biopsy was done? I plan to go see the oral surgeon just in case, but was wondering in the meantime. Do tongue biopsies tend to heal completely or do they usually leave scars/marks on the tongue? Thanks.
