Teeth through lower lip...didnt get stitches dont know what to do

Hi, I had gone over the handle bars on my bike and my bottom teeth went most the way through my bottom right lip. I went to the hospital they gave me the option of not getting stitched, me just wanting to leave I declined. I think this was a horrible mistake, now there is a white, sometimes gets red peice of fat/meat poking out of the slice. I went back to have stitches done but they said they cannot do anything that it should scab up and fall off. My question is what do I do I cant see how a slice with living tissue/fat poking through will close up and heal poperly, its about the size of a large popcorn curnle, please help me thank you.

You family doctor is a complete waste of time.  They no nothing about and should not be treating your wound.  Go to the specialist!!!!!  Do not wait till Tuesday.

Thank you for responding, I figured the hospital would know whats best I didnt question them. I accidentally hit my lip this morning and a brown puss came out of the cut with blood, I drained it and gargled with warm salt water. I schedualed an appointment for my family doctor for Tuesday, would gargling salt be effective enough until then?

You should promptly see a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon as soon as possible.  You probably should have had a surgeon (not ER doc) repair the wound within two hours.  That gives the best possible result with less risk of infection or scarring.

Surgeons routine revise these wounds to promote better tissue approximation and better aesthetics.  As the bacteria from your mouth can easily infect these wounds, antibiotics are important!
