pyriformis/piriformis
Why is this spelled two different ways? When I check the internet, it comes up with piriformis and this is the way my doctor spells it. Again, why is there limited knowledge of this area? Why the ignorance of something that is real and can explain sciatic issues?

The Botox injection helped and I am now doing Pilates for the first time in years. I have done three workouts already and still walking relatively pain free for now. Will continue with the Pilates as this has helped me in the past as a former dancer. It is a light stretching exercise for the back and hip areas. So far so good. Feels good to be able to stretch again areas, I haven't used in a LONG TIME! Just hope these muscles don't atrophy on me.

While milder forms of pyriformis syndrome can be managed by conservative measures such as stretching exercises, muscle strengthening, anti-inflammatory/ pain medications; severer forms may require steroid/ anesthetic shots. Prognosis is generally good and nerve destruction procedures are seldom used. I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for a detailed evaluation and suggestion of an appropriate management plan.

Your not one to suffer with this problem so obviously you can't offer an intelligent answer.
I don't need to call a nurse in Salem, I need an answer from a professional who knows what the piriformis muscle is and how to treat it, but obviously there is no professional.
Why aren't there any answers to this question about the piriformis muscle? I am trying to get an educated answer to issues related to the piriformis muscle and there doesn't seem to be any interest from the medical community. Does that mean this issue doesn't exist by ignoring my questions? Seems that when you are asking for help and education about an issue, ignorance seems to be the answer. As one doctor told me...'if they can't see or or touch it, it doesn't exist'. Is that really the answer?
