Can bursitis occur without an autoimmune condition?  Bursitis in multiple joints not just one joint.  I have a meniscal tear in both my knees. The one knee occasionally will swell up especially in the back and the outer left portion above knee cap I also have a pain in my hip and my right ankle. They both seem like bursitis. Can these occur from on autoimmune condition or osteoarthritis?  Also I have noticed these flare ups occur more intense  prior to my period.  The orthopedic doctor I see has done MRIs and hasn't told me if he sees anything unusual.  Would he be able to recognize on autoimmune condition or arthritis with an MRI?
