CTEV Treatment

I am vishnu joshi from Kolkata. My son born on 30/07/2011 and he has CTEV problem in left leg and the orthpedic surgeon says that 1st  2 to 3 weeks he will made creppe bandage on the left leg and it may be recover but if not than at the age of 6 months he offer a surgerical operation. Hence I want to know that whether it is right treatment or not. please inform me what is the procedure to recover my child from CTEV problem. And also inform where can i get best treatment for my child.

My child is born with club foot on right leg, soft tissue release is done last week (he is one month old) also need to put shoes for 3 years, hope on right track.
Also he is not able to strech his hand fully.... just 50% he is able to... dont know the treatment yet

Hi there!

Yes, this is the correct treatment for CTEV in a new born child. The child is managed with initial few weeks of manipulation and casting/ splints; later depending on the response and severity of the condition, conservative management may be continued or surgical options considered. Management of the condition is almost the same everywhere as per the guidelines followed universally.
