Complete ACL tear and meniscus removal

I am a martial artist and I got an ACL tear in 2007 in a match.
I got my ACL reconstruction surgery on 1 Jan., 2010.
My ACL was completely reconstructed using an ST graft and both of the lateral and medial meniscus have been removed as the doctor said it is beyond repair.
There were several loose bone fragments in the knee area.
The doctor has advised me not to practice martial art anymore and that I should discontinue any contact sport immediately forever.
Is there anything I can do to restore my full knee potential.
By the way I practice Muay Thai and it requires extensive knee striking.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

Presently I would suggest you to avoid any form of physical exercise or weight bearing.
After recovery you can start cardio activities.

As your menisci are removed and your ACL is repaired you will need time for recovery and your orthopedician does not want you to damage your cartilage which will cause early arthritis.

Avoid martial arts and review after a year.

Take care!
