Does anyone know a surgeon who removes hardware?

My original surgeon told me in the ER that he would remove mine, as well as during follow up visits once the bones were healed enough.  But he moved and I couldn't get an appointment to see him.  Now I've seen two orthopedic surgeons and they both told me they wouldn't remove my hardware.  It's really bothering me, it doesn't make sense that a hospital would have my life in the ER but then try and slowly murder me for the rest of my life.  I have all the tools to make furniture (a sizable investment) and I don't really like this feeling like I have to comb the earth with looted booty from the healthcare system looking for surgeons on the fringes of society??
