Electrical Foot Pain

Approximately 2 months ago, after 5 days of strenous exercise and volleyball,  I developed a pulsating/electrical zap on the innner side of my right foot near the arch.  Playing any sports caused the zapping to get worse and radiate throughout the foot, toes, ancle and calf.  After lots of rest, this sensation got better although will not go away, some days its there and some days only a light tigling. Sitting make the symptoms worse and walking, standing, or lying down seem to improve symptoms.  Ive had a clear EMG, Lumbar MRI, X-rays, neurolgical test.  Im 31, and an atheletic male. Thanks for any assistance.

I've been diagnosed with B6 Toxcicity.  I was only drinking Emergen-C  vitamin drink 1-2 times a day for a month or 2.  It only has 10mg of B6 in it.  I'm pretty sure this diagnosis is correct since ive seen some improvement since stopping.  Praying for a full recovery!!!  Everyone be careful with vitamins!

Hi Dr, I had a visit with one of my orthopedic doctots today, he is one of the partners in this large practice and seems to be on the cutting edge of treatments and medical training.  He seemed to think that my pain maybe caused by a mild case of Tarsal Tunnel synrome.  He used an unltrasound on my foot and showed a spot where the nerve potentially is compressed up against a ligament.  His recommended treatment was a procedure called a hydro-dissection where he uses an ultrasound to guide a needle into the area of contention and inject a saline solution (that also contains I believe a small amount of cortizone) in the hopes of dislodging and opening up the space for the nerve.  Post injection he would have me wear a boot when not sleeping or driving for 3 weeks.

Ive tried to look up such a procedure without much luck and wondered if you had any feedback, warnings, etc.  My inital thought is to schedule the treatment about a month from now in hopes these symptoms heal on thier own and it will not be needed.

Overall, im not 100% sure tarsal tunnel is the culprit since pain is worse when sitting and gone when walking. However my back MRI is clear so that does not seem to be the issue either.

Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

If you have pain along the inside of your thigh and if it radiates along your leg and foot then this is sciatica pain.

If you have lower lumbar spinal issues then you can develop sciatica symptoms.

You have to follow proper ergonomics in your daily living and follow proper positions during sitting, sleeping, working with proper supportive beds, chairs, foot wear etc.

You should wear a lower lumbar back support if required, apply hot and cold compress and take pain killers intermittently. You can also take a steroid shot.

Consult an orthopedician for proper scans and best course of treatment.

Take care!
