Has anyone ever used Forteo? I am injecting tiny amounts daily into my abdomen. (sub-q ) This is following a non union of the fibula from a surgery February 21st. I am using Forteo and a magnetic bone growth stimulator.

I took Forteo for 10 months. and i can barely walk.  i took Tymlos for the first 6 months and was fine, and then Forteo for 10 months.  my strength is gone, my feet hurt wearing shoes, i have stomach pain when exercising, and ave thigh muscle cramps, neck pain, and can't sleep.  I had confusion when driving, so i told my doctor i'm done with this.  I know where i'm going these days, but I now use a walker around the house, elastic knee braces to walk on my own.   I ache and hurt all the time... so beware of this ... Lilly gave it to me free and i'm so very sorry i ever went with this treatment.  my bone density improved a lot, but what good is that if i can't walk on my own??

Hello hillre,
Forteo is a man-made form of a hormone called parathyroid that exists naturally in the body. Forteo increases bone density and increases bone strength to help prevent fractures.
Forteo is used to treat osteoporosis in men and women who have a high risk of bone fracture.
Forteo can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Avoid smoking cigarettes, or try to quit smoking altogether. Smoking can reduce your bone mineral density, making fractures more likely. Avoid drinking alcohol, which also may affect your bone mineral density.
