Has anyone ever tried prolotherapy?

I strained my inguinal ligament (groin strain) pretty bad about 1 1/2 years ago and it just won't heal up. I was researching this injury and found prolotherapy and was wondering if anyone has ever tried this and what was the results? I've also suffered an out of alignment issue with both hips and tailbone that I can't seem to get back into alignment as well.

Thanks for the response Dr. Kaul,

I just got the results from my ct scan of the pelvic and abs yesterday and they were negative for tears or anything else for that matter. What doctors call the "fat pad" (the area right above your groin) seems to be really loose muscle tissue and while I am doing a crunch I can pull this loose tissue away from the Rectus Abdominis which I can feel tense up during the crunch. My inguinal canal & ligaments on both sides feel loose & strained  as well as both cremaster muscles which are pulled up towards my body. My whole groin feels unstable, like it's lost it's structure holding it in place. I was told by my physical therapist (who specializes in the pelvic floor and core area) that stem cell procedures & prolotherapy was my next step since I'm not healing up. She also told me that it seems as if my muscle tissue has separated in that "fat pad" area right above& on both sides of my groin. I would have thought that muscle separation would have shown up on the ct scan. So I have looked into the prolotherapy as well as stem cell procedures and was wondering if any of these were worth my time and money since it isn't covered by insurance.

Hi there!

Prolotherapy may not work as well for the inguinal ligament. Management in the situation would depend on the extent and the severity of the tear and is best discussed with a general surgeon. For the hip issues I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for a detailed evaluation and suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
