I had a meniscus injury almost 2years ago a tear in left knee due to gym exercise while doing thighs exercise and from that time I was exercising my legs and their was no more pain after nearly 8 month , just yesterday I did the same movement once again and I hearted a pop in the same knee and a little pain with a bending movement in the same place after examining it by my self by pressing on the spot is it possible that the tear had happened once again ... Thank you for your answer

You should go ahead with arthroscopy.  Meniscal tears don't heal on their own.  I've never heard of anyone having to wear a cast after a meniscal repair-possibly a knee immoblizer for a while, depending on the system used to repair it.  But I guess it also depends on where you live.  Also, repair vs debridement (trimming away the tear) depends on age and area of the tear.  A meniscal tear can only be repaired if there is blood flow to the area.  If there is no blood flow, a repair will be unsuccessful and a debridement would be the standard of care.  Your Orthopaedic Surgeon will go over all options with you (I used to work for one) but I'm sure that arthroscopy is in your best interest.  Good luck!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

Your age and the type of physical activity you are involved for your daily living is important to take a decision.

Grade II meniscal tears can take time to recover with conservative treatment. You would need to wear a cast for couple of months and then follow up with physiotherapy and muscle strengthening exercises.

One of the key components of your rehabilitation programme is pain-free strengthening of your quadriceps, hamstrings and gluteal muscles and also your calf to improve the control of your knee joint with weight-bearing activities. Discuss with a physiotherapist, learn and practice these at home.

If you want faster recovery and do not want to wait for conservative treatment then go for arthroscopic surgical repair.

Take care!
